What I Wore - 8/6/11

Apologies for not posting for a few days! I went to Nottingham on Wednesday and came back yesterday. I mentioned a post or two back that I was going to see The Pierces, and that's what I done on Wednesday evening.
They were amazing (!!) As were their two supporting acts; Alice gold & Delta Maid - And I will, for sure, be posting about them on my music blog in the next few days.

However, over here on my fashion/style/personal... everything else blog, I'm of course going to blog about my outfit and my day!
I spent just over 2 hours travelling - one bus, two trains & one taxi. In that order!
And when I got off my first train it was very sunny & pretty warm! I was impressed. However, while going through various places on my second train - there was no sun. I was pretty concerned considering I was going to be standing in a queue with a white dress on, later on.
The wonderful British weather came into full force while I was in the taxi to my hotel - It hailed. Hard.
So my outfit didn't go to plan, I wasn't into risking getting so cold I go home ill, so I put my jeans on instead of the tights. Also, I put my jacket on over the dress - for two reasons: I forgot my vest top to wear underneath because the dress is relatively see-through (boo!) & also, it was cold.

Obviously, again, my outfit photos aren't up to much. And the quality isn't so good this time as the lighting was different. I took them in my hotel room. Haha! I hope you like them anyway.

Dress - New Look
(faux) Leather Jacket - Internacionale
Jeans -  Internacionale
Oxfords - Primark
Flower Clip - Claire's

I also apologize for the state of my hand... I blame the weather.

I had a wonderful Wednesday, I hope you did too. I now have a lot to catch up on!
Happy Friday!
P.S - I took a lot of photos at the show on Wednesday and you can see them on my Flickr!

Grown Up Goth: A peek into

Today, I present a peek into my ever changing style. Entitled 'grown up goth' because I in fact was a 'goth' for quite a while.
I was very reluctant to change my style, I wasn't into fashion as much as I am now and there definitely wasn't any other style that appealed to me.
And that style was the one I fell in love with, so I wanted to keep as much of it as possible. But maybe kind of 'upgrade' it and that's what I mean by 'grown up goth' - It's similar, just more grunge and romantic/Victorian elements.

I shall go from head to toe - I made some polyvore sets earlier for clearer examples and ideas.

Tops;

All Saints flower top
$115 - allsaints.com

All Saints draped top
$180 - allsaints.com

All Saints draped top
$125 - allsaints.com

All Saints striped top
$95 - allsaints.com

Miss Selfridge black waistcoat
25 GBP - missselfridge.com

Miss selfridge
18 GBP - missselfridge.com

My general palette is black, red & white - I love stripes, lace & draping. I look for tops with detailing and abstract prints but also that destroyed, burnt look. & I'm very into collars right now.

Jewellery;

Statement

TopShop rope jewelry
$30 - topshop.com

Chain jewelry
$28 - topshop.com

TopShop metal jewelry
$60 - topshop.com

Cord Through Chain Collar
$28 - topshop.com

As much as I love rings, I can't wear them. I just can't get on with them. So I stick to bracelets and necklaces. But mostly necklaces, because my wrists are impossibly small and things just fall off of them.
Luckily, you can get some amazing necklaces. I tend to go for big, statement and highly detailed necklaces.
Skulls, chains & spikes are my favourites.

Bottoms - Shorts;

Distressed Shorts

Secret;BB distressed denim shorts
$68 - yesstyle.com

Ksubi denim shorts
$125 - net-a-porter.com

PRPS cotton shorts
155 GBP - brownsfashion.com

TopShop hot shorts
$70 - topshop.com

I chose to do a polyvore set of shorts because of the current season and the impossible amount of shorts that are in my wardrobe. I do wear skirts & jeans. But usually; I wear shorts and tights in summer and jeans in winter.
I tend to make my own shorts. I cut my jeans into shorts and customize them with studs and patches.
But there are some awesome shorts out there right now!

Tights & Socks;
Socks & Tights

Miss Selfridge nylon stocking
10 GBP - missselfridge.com

TopShop nylon stocking
$16 - topshop.com

TopShop lace tight
$24 - topshop.com

Miss Selfridge black socks
8.50 GBP - missselfridge.com

Black cotton socks
$8 - topshop.com

Cotton socks
$8 - topshop.com

I love tights! I love how many different styles you can get now. I own and look for; lace and lace detailed, striped, detailed & single colour tights. And knee high, cable knit & lace ankle socks.

Shoes;
Flats; Boots. Wedges. Platforms.

Peep toe wedge
$140 - topshop.com

Irregular Choice wedge high heels
$240 - solestruck.com

Jeffrey Campbell stretch boots
$265 - solestruck.com

Leather shoes
$140 - topshop.com

I tend to stick to flats, wedges & platforms. I think I get weak ankles off my mother. Cause I can't walk in heels to save my life.
I love and own boots more than anything I think. But I equally love oxfords, wedges & creepers.
Jeffrey Campbell & Irregular Choice are probably forever my favourites.

I hope you enjoyed a look into my style. And liked the polyvore sets too! ♥

P.S - I'm so behind with blog reading and commenting. But I will get round to it though, I promise.

Preparing for The Pierces.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The Pierces / {Source}

I was originally going to do this blog entry for my music blog... but then I realized I'm just going on about my outfit so it would be better suited here!

I tend to do a fair amount of preparation for most gigs I go to (if you didn't know, I go to a lot of gigs) - admittedly most of that preparation is my outfit.
In a weeks time I'm going to see The Pierces and a lot of my preparations are of course, my outfit.
My gig outfits are usually based on something about the singer/band I'm going to see or sometimes the style/genre.
I have a white based, kind of flowy outfit planned. With lace and flowers. I don't really wear dresses that much, mainly because I never find or imagine any dresses that would suit me. But anyway, back to the outfit, I guess it's based around their style and their music. Very soft, flowy, and boho-like.
I took some photos a few days ago:

Also; Lace tights!

I also bought a flower crown, but I'm not sure if to wear that or the flower clip.
The dress is the one I wore when I moved, you can see it properly in the outfit post I done.
I'm literally in love with the little wrist... things - I clearly have no idea what they're actually called, feel free to let me know, haha! - They're just so pretty (!!) & I've been meaning to buy lace tights for a while but haven't 'til now. I love them!
As for the shoes, I wasn't meant to be buying any more shoes. (...like that was actually gonna happen though) but they are oxfords (my favourite)! And they were in the sale for £8... EIGHT?!

I will be doing a proper outfit post after the gig, but I just wanted to share what I will wearing!

P.S - Happy June!
